Youth Service

Sacramento Childrens Home and Crisis Nursery Our club donated $750 to the Crisis Nursery for ongoing support and $500 to the nursery for “Greatest Need.”

Fulton El Camino Recreation and Parks District Our club budgets $500 a year to help with projects and specific special needs. We also provide hands-on service at events and projects like the recent “Frightfully Fun Carnival” and a planned onsite tree planting to replace trees killed in a storm.

Process Theater/Very Special Festival of the Arts The club donates $1,000 annually to support artistic programs in local schools for students with special needs. Numerous club members also attend and support the programs throughout the year.

Next Move Homeless Services — In 2023, our club purchased, wrapped, and delivered Christmas gifts for homeless children and needy adults and donated 13 turkeys for Thanksgiving meals.

Sacramento Suburban Kiwanis supports a number of youth projects, including but not limited to:

Boys and Girls State — Our club sponsors three students for each three-day event from high schools with Key Clubs we sponsor. The events provide hands-on governmental education, civic responsibility, and leadership opportunities, highlighting the duties and privileges of American citizenship. The students then address the club at a regular meeting, passing on all that they learned.

Boy Scouts, Troop #53 — Our club pays the charter fees for the Troop, Cub Scout Den, and Explorer Post and covers miscellaneous needs like new patches, event costs, etc. Club members help at events and attend Scout meetings. The Scouts, in turn, help with manpower at club events and projects such as the Art Fiesta and Kiwanis Family House clean-up days.

The Stanford Settlement — In 2023, the club donated $1,000 to cover the three-month stipend for a “Counselor in Training” position at their Teen Center. Club members also lend hands-on service in December helping to assemble Holiday Baskets.

Wellspring Women's Center — In 2023, the club provided $750 to help renovate their “Children’s Corner.” This area gives a respite and quiet learning area for children while their moms are working through the Wellspring programs and services.
